Florence "Jick" Guy

Florence Sprouse "Jick" Guy, 98, resident of 550 J.T. Ashley Rd. widow of Edward Douglas Guy, Sr. passed away Sunday Feb. 22, 2009 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Abbeville, SC she was a daughter of the late John Lewis and Florence Wilson Sprouse, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother Julia McAllister Sprouse, her son Edward Douglass Guy, Jr. and brother John Lewis Sprouse.

Mrs. Guy was a homemaker and devoted mother. She was also a member of the Due West ARP Church. She will be missed by her loving family and her many friends.

Survivors include her son, Dr. John Lewis Guy, Sr. and his wife Audrey of Honea Path, SC; a sister, Sara Ferguson of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren Joe & Karen Guy of Atlanta, Georgia, Ann and David Looney of Greenville, SC, John & Ellen Guy, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, George Guy of Abbeville, SC, Harby and Sandy Williams of Abbeville, SC, Linda Guy and life partner Rita Hutcherson of Woodland, Georgia, Ed & Susie Guy of Abbeville, SC, Rocky Guy of Honea Path, SC, Christopher Guy of Honea Path, SC; 14 Great-grandchildren and 7 Great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside Celebration of Life will be conducted Tuesday Feb. 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM in Long Cane Cemetery in Abbeville, SC with the Rev. Calvin Draffin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM Tuesday afternoon at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home prior to services. They will receive friends after services at Mrs. Guy's home 550 J.T. Ashley Rd.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friends of Trinity Episcopal Church P O Box 911 Abbeville, SC 29620.
