Ernest Samuel Timms

Ernest Samuel Timms, 74, resident of 317 Noble Drive, husband of Henrietta Simpson Timms, passed away Friday, June 24, 2011 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC , he was a son of the late Joseph Adger Timms and Lillian Baldwin Timms.

Ernest served his country as a United States Army veteran and also a member of the National Guard. He was a retired employee with Velux Industries with over 15 years of service. Ernest will be remembered as a loving man who enjoyed life to the fullest. He was also a faithful member of the Pentacostal Holiness Church in Abbeville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Henrietta Simpson Timms of the home; 2 sisters, Lucille T. Steifle of Greenwood, SC and Martha T. Vinson and her husband, Pete, of Abbeville, SC; and a number of loving nieces and nephews who fondly called him "Poppy".

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Adger Timms, Jr., and George Timms; and 3 sisters, Dora Virginia T. Hammonds, Elizabeth Frances T. Wideman and Clara Mae Hall.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 4:00 PM in the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Massey officiating. The burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family is at the home 317 Noble Drive in Abbeville, SC.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday afternoon prior to services at the funeral home.
