Eleanor Jones Hagood

Eleanor Jones Hagood, 78, resident of 1694 Cedar Springs Rd., wife of James Carroll Hagood passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Abbeville Nursing Home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Abbeville, SC, she was a daughter of the late James B. Jones, Sr. and Lucille Wiley Jones.

Eleanor was a retired textile employee with over 25 years of service with the Abbeville Shirt Makers. She was a loyal and devoted member of Main St. United Methodist Church. Eleanor will be remembered for her kind and loving demeanor by her loving family and her many friends.

Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, James Carroll Hagood of the home; 2 daughters, Bonnyie Hagood Alexander and her husband, Ronnie, of Abbeville, SC and Contessa "Tess" Hagood Bowie of Greenwood, SC; 2 brothers, Bill Jones and Sam Jones both of Abbeville, SC; 1 sister, Mary Ellen Singleton of Roebuck, SC; 2 grandchildren, Michaela Jordan Bowie and Tyler Matthew Bowie; 2 step-grandsons; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James B. "Ben" Jones, Jr. and infant John Eugene Jones and 2 sisters, Peggy Anne Mullinax and Martha Jones Brown.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 18, 2012 at 3:00 PM in The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.'s Randy Taylor and Johnnie Waller officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home 1694 Cedar Springs Rd. Abbeville, SC.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at the funeral home prior to services.
