Edgar "Eddie" Rufus Clark

Edgar Rufus "Eddie" Clark, Jr., 68, resident of 946 Old Douglas Mill Rd., husband of Joyce Purdy Clark, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC, he was a son of the late Edgar R. Clark, Sr. and Melda McCombs Clark.

Eddie devoted his entire working life to Law Enforcement. He was a former police officer with the Abbeville City Police Dept. and retired from SLED with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division after 25 years of service. Eddie was also a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #3 AFM. He was also quite a sportsman and athlete enjoying hunting and fishing. Eddie was also an avid golfer and standout football and baseball player during his high school years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Eddie will be missed by his loving family and his many friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Joyce Purdy Clark of the home; 2 sons, Craig Clark and his wife, Donna, of Abbeville, SC and Trey Marsh and his wife, Whitney, of Lexington, SC; 1 daughter, Ginger Crawford and her husband, Matt, of Abbeville, SC; 1 brother, John Clark and his wife, Mary, of Lake Greenwood; 1 sister, Melinda Gray and her husband, Sandy, of Abbeville, SC; 1 step-daughter, Tracy Willingham of Tucker, Georgia; 3 grandchildren, Joshua and Kaitlin Smith and Cadence Marsh; 3 step-grandchildren, Ally, Ty and Ryan Willingham.

A Celebration of Eddie's life will be conducted Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Wilson officiating with Masonic and Police Honor rites to follow.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM Saturday afternoon prior to services at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be any Law Enforcement attending and Clinton Masonic Lodge #3.
