Words can not express the extreme sadness I feel in loosing such a true friend and individual. Walter was always the best to all of his patient's rich or poor a like .He treasured the birth of each child he delivered! When I think of him I think of a verse in the Methodist hymnal. It suits him so well. Here I am Lord, is it I Lord, I can hear you calling in the night. I will go Lord where you lead me, and will hold your people in my heart. To you Walter, MY family and I will forever hold you in our hearts and will miss you dearly! Thank you for my two precious sons and the excellent care I received from you. May you rest in Peace and God Bless your family. Beth

Dr. Bishop was a hero to me!! Over the years he always went over and beyond as my Doctor, he became a friend. When I was going through cancer treatments and was admitted to the hospital under others Doctors care, I would wake up early in the morning and Dr. Bishop would be sitting in the room. I never knew how he always knew when I was in there. That meant the world to me! He delivered me into this world, he made sure my babies made it full term ( which was not easy)and delivered them into this world, at 34 for he told me He was pretty sure I had cancer and then he told me it we are going to be Ok he would make sure of it. Every year on my birthday I would call he and ask him what he was doing so in so years ago at the time, he was always say I guess delivering your pretty behind. :) I was looking forward to that call this year on June 23, but he was called home 3 days before. He was my hero, I Loved him, trusted him and will dearly miss him!!

I am saddened by the loss of Walter. We were good friends first in Aiken you, playing tennis together at Strom and Jean Thurmond's, and as classmates and fraternity brothers at Davidson. I remember him as being very bright and energetic. I am thrilled as I read the comments of others he cared for over the years. He lived out his Christian commitment faithfully.
