Dorothy “Dot” Simpson Argo, 93, widow of the late Samuel Argo, entered into rest Sunday August 24, 2025, at Wesley Commons.
Born on April 25, 1932, in Abbeville County, to the late Mack Hunter and Corrie Black Simpson, she was a seamstress at the Abbeville Shirt Plant.
Dot loved cooking, she especially enjoyed shucking corn and canning corn and was an exceptional cook.
A member of Abbeville International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Dot taught Sunday School for many years and dearly loved her church and church family. She always found comfort in reading her Bible.
Surviving are her children, Kim Argo, and Samuel “Buddy” Argo, both of Abbeville, Billie Jo Argo of Travelers Rest; her sister, Henrietta Timms; her grandchildren, Jessica Willis, Jennifer Holbrooks, Justin Argo, Leanna Himes, and Joey Argo; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, one special niece, Beverly Turner. She was predeceased by her brothers, Marion Simpson, Hunter Simpson, Chalmers Simpson, and J.W Simpson, her sisters, Lucille Argo and Frances Motes.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 28th at 2:30 PM from the Abbeville International Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Marion Argo and Rev. Ray Massey officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:30 until the hour of service at the church. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Curtis Simpson, Larry Harrison, Joseph Simpson, and Scott Argo.
