Doris Crosby Boyd

Doris Crosby Boyd, 84, resident of 77 Noble Drive widow of James C. "Jimmy" Boyd passed away Tuesday Nov. 17, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.

Born in Abbeville Co, SC she was a daughter of the late William Baxter Crosby and Louise Hill Crosby.

She was a graduate of Lander College with an Associate Degree in Business and was a retired Claims Analyst with the Social Security Administration. Mrs. Boyd was also a former member of the Abbeville Pilot Club and the Abbeville Cotillion Club. She spent many years serving on the Long Cane Cemetery Association as Secretary and Treasurer. Mrs. Boyd was also a member of the Abbeville ARP Church. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother and will be missed by her many friends.

Survivors include 2 daughters Brenda Hill and her husband Marshall of Rock Hill, SC, Mary Jo Nance and her husband Bill of Gainesville, Georgia; 1 son James Crosby Boyd of Abbeville, SC; 5 grandchildren Doris Elizabeth Hill, James Allen Hill, Brandon Marshall Hill, Lorrin Nance Brown and Jo Anna Nance Baker; 3 great grandchildren Wyatt Brown, Gavin Brown and Bella Baker; sister-in-law Mary Alice Hagen and her husband Harper of Abbeville, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday Nov. 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Randy Ruble officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery in Abbeville, SC.

The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM Thursday evening.
