Debbie Jean Thompson, 73, widow of James Royce Thompson, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was born on December 26, 1950, in Greenwood, SC, to the late Jack and Mattie Cobb Crawford.

Debbie's passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career. She dedicated herself to the education of young minds, starting at Antreville Elementary School and later at Diamond Hill Elementary School until her retirement. Her impact on the lives of her students will be remembered for generations to come.

Beyond her professional life, Debbie had an infectious spirit that touched the hearts of everyone she met. Compassionate and fun-loving, she had a heart of gold that would shine through in all she did. Her warm presence brought joy to those around her, and her kindness knew no bounds.

In her free time, Debbie loved exploring new places. Visiting Mississippi held a special place in her heart as it reminded her of cherished memories. She also enjoyed trips to the beach, finding solace in the gentle rhythm of the waves. Shopping excursions and dining out with loved ones were also among her favorite pastimes.

Debbie is survived by her son Russ Thompson and his wife Carleen of Due West, SC. She was a devoted sister to Tommy Crawford and his wife Allie of Donalds, SC. Her legacy will live on through her grandson Chandler Thompson and his wife Ana, granddaughter Reagan Thompson, great-granddaughter Jada Thompson, as well as her special fur baby Markus.

In addition to her parents, Jack and Mattie Crawford, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years James Royce Thompson, and a brother Mike Crawford.
