David Thomas Whitten, 85, widower of the late Mary Wilson Whitten, resident of Mount Carmel Road, entered into rest Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at his residence.
Born on September 4, 1939 in Greenwood to the late Ernest and Hazel Whitten he was a part of the last graduating class of the Old Abbeville High School on Chestnut Street. He retired from Pirelli Cable after many years of service. David was an avid Hunter.
A member of Abbeville International Pentecostal Holiness Church, he loved his church family.
Surviving are his children, Denise Brown (Darrell) of Abbeville, Deanna Bell of NC, Caffey Thomas of Abbeville; his sister, Maureen Williams of Abbeville; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife 56 years, Mary Wilson Whitten.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Saturday, May 24th at 3:00 PM from the Abbeville International Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Russ Tollison officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Abbeville International Pentecostal Holiness Church, 109 Barnett St. Abbeville, SC 29620.
