Dan and I worked together for Green Seed Company in Tennessee and later in Atlanta.I'm a Virginian and Dan being a southern boy from S. Carolina,we became friends right away.We could go on for hours talking college football, politics,or about the war of northern aggression(aka-civil war).Dan knew a little bit about a lot of things, so he was never at a loss for words.I told him one day he ought to be in politics. He told me he was way too honest to take up that line of work. The old boy could cook too!I'd have to take a nap after a mess of his country style steak, collard greens, mashed taters,grits,"cat-head" biscuits, and gravy.I gained 30 lbs.the first 6 mos.rooming with him. When I moved to N.Carolina with the seed company and Dan back to his home in S.Carolina,we would still get together when Virginia would play Clemson in Death Valley. My friend and I would would drive down and stay with Dan and soak up his batch of southern hospitality. He would "put the dog on!" I'm going to miss our phone visits,Dan's southern spin on life, and his telling of tall tales.I've been fortunate in my lifetime to have met some right interesting folks, some of which I consider friends.I have a small crowd of really good friends, and I just lost a member of that group.I'm going to miss you, buddy.
