Charlotte Frances Hawthorne

July 11, 1918 — December 24, 2008

Charlotte F. Hawthorne, 90, resident of Carlisle Nursing Center, (Covenant Way) passed away Wednesday Dec. 24, 2008 at Carlisle Nursing Center.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC, July 11, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Robert Weston and Mamie Bowie Hawthorne.

Miss Charlotte was a graduate of Spartanburg School of Nursing and was a World War II Army veteran having served as and Army Nurse. She retired as a registered nurse from York General Hospital in Rock Hill, SC, after many years of service. She was a loyal member of Greenville Presbyterian Church. Miss Charlotte will be remembered as a loving sister and aunt and will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

Survivors include 2 sister-in-laws Cornelia Hawthorne of Lyman, SC and Doris Hawthorne of Due West, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers John, Irvin, Robert, Edgar, Chester and Charlie Hawthorne and sisters Ellen Hawthorne and Irene H. Drake.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday Dec. 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Greenville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jonathan Bowling and Rev. Dr. George Wilson officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The body is at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Church one hour before services. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
