Elizabeth Caroline Black Mabry, 92, resident of 54 Seminole Drive Simpsonville, formerly of 401 Orange Street Abbeville, widow of James Rivers Mabry, Sr. passed away Friday Aug. 2, 2013 at the home of her daughter and caregiver after an extended illness.
Born in Chicago, IL she was a daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Black and Annie Cochran Black.
Caroline was a retired Patient Care Representative and volunteer coordinator at Abbeville Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a faithful member of Abbeville Presbyterian Church and active with the choir prior to her illness. She was also active as a Hospice volunteer. Caroline will be remembered for her kind and loving demeanor and her friendly smile.
Survivors include a daughter Caroline M. Bowie King (Richard) of Simpsonville, SC; 4 sons Tommy Mabry of the home, Francis Mabry of Simpsonville, SC, Dexter Mabry of Greenwood, SC and Rivers Mabry of Abbeville, SC; Special caregiver and friend Clayton McKee; a grandson Preston Mabry; 3 granddaughters and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday Aug. 6, 2013 at 4:00 PM in Abbeville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Carol Strickland and Dr. Randy Kowalski officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday evening at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.
