Betty Sprouse Ware

Betty Sprouse Ware, 89, widow of Robert Emory "Bobby" Ware, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 28, 2018, after a brief illness.

Born on February 7, 1928, in Abbeville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ira Ernest Sprouse and Ruby Butler Sprouse. She was predeceased by her brother, Jack Sprouse, and by her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Snyder. Betty was retired from Fovil Manufacturing Company as office manager.

An active member of Main Street United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class and the Susanna Wesley Circle, she was a member of the Chancel Choir for over 50 years, was a former nursery Sunday School teacher, and was on numerous church committees over the years.

A lifelong Abbevillian, she was an avid bridge player and was known for making loaves of bread which she shared with many. She was loved by everyone who knew her: neighbors, friends, letter carriers, co-workers, and the list goes on.

Surviving are three daughters, Becky Bowie (Marion), Mary Beth Peck (Ray), and Lynn Blanton (Ben), all of Abbeville; a brother, Bill Sprouse (Janett) of Ware Shoals; seven grandchildren, Valerie Snyder (Mark) of Greenville, SC; Kelli Stoddard (Ben) of Hendersonville, NC; Laura Evans of Saluda, SC; Mandi Janezeck (Jason) of Virginia Beach, VA; Lesli Knabe (Duane) of Simpsonville, SC; Kimberly Stephens (Jay) of Greenville, SC; Casey Thomasson (Taylor) of Greenwood, SC; and twelve great-grandchildren: Tori, Nicole, Alli, Emily, Will, Braeden, Anna Claire, Lucy, Sophia, Jackson, Cannon, and Beau.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 at the home, 406 Magazine St., Abbeville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Brian Arant officiating. A private burial will be held later at Long Cane Cemetery.
