Betty Furtick Rooney

Betty Furtick Rooney, 75, beloved wife of William P. Rooney of Lake Secession, South Carolina was called home by our Lord on July 27, 2010 while under the care of Savannah Heights Living Center of McCormick, SC.

Born April 7, 1935, in Aiken Co. SC she was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Hallman Furtick, father Daniel Furtick, and brother Jessie L. Furtick. Mrs. Rooney is survived by her husband William P. Rooney of Lake Secession, SC, sister and brother in law Peggy and Roger Bird of Abbeville, SC, sister in law Rose Furtick of Lawrenceville, NJ and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mrs. Rooney retired after many years of service with the State of New Jersey, Division of Taxation.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday July 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Murdock officiating. The burial will follow in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery in Anderson, SC.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:30 Thursday morning prior to services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Mrs. Rooney may be made to First Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, 9511 Abbeville Hwy. 28 North Iva, SC 29655.
