Barbara Ann Ware Ricketts

Barbara Ann Ware Ricketts, 81, widow of William Clarence Ricketts, Jr. passed away Sunday Oct. 9, 2016, with her two sons by her side.

Born March 27, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Walker and Eva Ashley Ware.

She was raised in the Level Land section of Abbeville County. She attended Dixie High School where the two loves of her life were basketball and Junior Ricketts. After graduation she attended cosmetology school and became a beautician. She operated a beauty shop/hairstyle salon for over forty years at various locations on the square in downtown Abbeville. Barbara loved her "ladies" and often went to pick them up for their appointments when they were no longer able to drive and even made "house calls" when they became shut-ins. She and Junior spent over 62 years together and she loved her 'boys' more than anything else in the world.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell (Lisa) Ricketts of Aynor, SC and Terry (Millie) of Abbeville, SC; one sister, Francis Ware Loner of Level Land, SC; six grandchildren, Thad (April) Ricketts of Abbeville, SC, Dustan (Katie) Ricketts of Abbeville, SC, Dr. Jessica Ricketts of Chapin, SC, Zachary (Brittney) Ricketts of Aynor, SC; Seth Ricketts of Aynor, SC, and Blake (Della) Ricketts of Abbeville, SC.

Barbara was preceded in death by one sister, Mickie Ware Voyles, two brothers, Thomas Walker Ware, Jr. and Ronnie Ware, and a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Darilyn Ricketts.

A graveside memorial service will be conducted Tuesday Oct. 11, 2016 at 11: 00 AM in Little Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends after services in the church fellowship hall. The family is at the home of her son Mr. & Mrs. Terry Ricketts 63 Ricketts Rd. Abbeville, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Barbara may be made to Little Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery fund, 3836 Hwy. 28 North Abbeville, SC 29620.
