Alvin "Red" Vernon Jones

Alvin Vernon "Red" Jones, 80, resident of 94 Monterey Rd. Monterey Community husband of Imogene Moore Jones passed away Saturday June 7, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville, SC he was a son of the late Colious and Ellen Smith Jones.

He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and a retired electrician with the Michelin Plant with 18 years of service. He was an active member of Bells United Methodist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and brother and missed by his many friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Imogene Moore Jones of the home; 1 son Mike Jones and his wife Cindy and 2 daughters Mary Jane Hanna and her husband Tuck and Diane Waters and her husband Deanie all of Abbeville, SC; 1 brother Clyde J. Jones and his wife Della of Greenville, SC and 1 sister Betty Sue Culbertson and her husband Wes of Greenville, SC; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday June 10, 2008 at 4:00 PM in Bells United Methodist Church. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday evening. The family is at the home 94 Monterey Rd. Abbeville, SC.

Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Jones to Bells United Methodist Church, Audio Visual System, 2540 Flat Rock Rd. Abbeville, SC 29620.
