Norman Fletcher Sorrow, 74, resident of 48 Colony East Abbeville, SC husband of Linda Hill Sorrow passed away Wednesday May 2, 2018 at his home.
Born in Abbeville, SC July 13, 1943 he was the son of Margaret King Sorrow and the late Norman R. Sorrow.
Fletcher was a graduate of Abbeville High School where he excelled in sports. He was was a star football player having received the most valuable Lineman Award as well as being nominated as a 1961 All American. He earned a football scholarship to Clemson University. He also excelled in baseball and track.
Fletcher retired from CSX Railroad as an Engineer with over 28 years of service. He also served as Local Chairman for the BLE Division 498 where he supported the Union for working women and man. He was very devoted to his work but he always put his family first and foremost in his life. He was a faithful member of Congregational Holiness Church .
Survivors include; his beloved wife of 56 years Linda Hill Sorrow of the home; his mother Margaret King Sorrow of Abbeville, SC; two daughters Lisa Simpson (Rhett) and Angela Pruitt (David) all of Abbeville, SC; a sister Sherry Snipes (Bennie) of Abbeville, SC; two brothers Paul Terry Sorrow (Lynn) and Mark Sorrow (Martha) all of Greenwood, SC; three grandchildren Madison Pruitt, Tara Henderson and Josh Simpson; four great-grandchildren Clay, Tucker, Coleton and Trinity.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday May 5, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Willie McCurry officiating and several family members will speak as well. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home 48 Colony East Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:00 PM in the church prior to services.
